From a spiritual perspective, you could say he was called to care for a segment of our population that often receives the lowest standard of care available. Treating elderly people with dignity and respect to him represents the depth of compassion and meaning in life. He will readily tell anyone about his own transition into this state of mind...from a young, adrenaline junky emt to a happy and effective cna. He still gets Christmas cards from families whose loved one has long since passed on because his standard of care always surpassed the expected.
This leaves me to wonder...
Why are we called if our calling gives us no resources to complete the mission?
How to resolve the cognitive and emotional dissonance that results from being called and not being able to financially serve?
